Policies & Expectations

Everything you need to know about how we operate, what we provide, and what we ask of our families. Please read this before enrolling.

A Letter from Janice

Thank you for allowing me to care for your child(ren). I take it as an honor that you would entrust me with his/her care. Mine is a unique care facility, but I do have to abide by certain rules of the trade. I promise to give your child the best and most loving care possible, and will keep you informed of closures, changes in hours, as well as the development and accomplishments of your child. I encourage parent involvement with your child's learning.

What You Can Expect from Us

We are committed to providing every child in our care with:

  • Prompt notification if your child becomes ill or is hurt.
  • Quality childcare and learning experiences for children aged zero to seven.
  • Loving, dependable instruction tailored to each child.
  • Nutritious breakfast, lunch/dinner, and snacks.
  • Participation in city and civic activities that will enhance mental, social, and physical growth.
  • Regular feedback on your child's progress.

What We Ask of Families

To help us provide the best care for your child, we ask that families:

  • Send a change of clothes with your child.
  • Call ahead when your child will not be attending.
  • Ensure completion of homework assignments when given.
  • Provide a calm area at home for homework, with necessary supplies.
  • Read with your child at home for at least 20 minutes each day (reading to them counts!).
  • Send special snacks or food if your child has specific dietary needs.
  • Provide medication when needed, with written instructions.
  • Submit weekly payment on time.
  • Keep us informed of any changes in your child's schedule, health, or family situation.

Prices vary with the age of the child. Families with more than two children enrolled will receive a discount of up to $20. Payment can be made by cash, check, money order, or through the Bright Wheel app (parents are encouraged to download it).

Attendance Policy

Unlike other places where you pay only when your child is present, we ask that you phone ahead if your child will be absent, dropped off later than usual, or picked up late. If your child is in continual care for more than 10 hours, an additional charge of $5 per hour (or another agreed-upon price) will apply. A calendar with attendance is posted at the center — days absent or closed are marked in black.

Philosophy on Education

Education occurs at every level of development. With a secure, person-centered environment, our teachers will develop a program to fit the needs of your child. Each child learns at his or her own pace, and with the support of the family, your child will succeed. Children will be engaged in age-appropriate activities that allow them to create, discover, experiment, explore, share, and make good choices.

Discipline is handled through redirection and time-out. Your child will be placed away from others for unacceptable behavior. If problems persist, your assistance will be required.

Behavior Policy

Treasures Academy will provide positive guidance in a faith-based atmosphere that is appropriate for the stage of development for each child. We will encourage children to build levels of self-control, self-esteem, and respect for those around them.

This will be done by:

  • Observing interactions with others during play and group activities.
  • Explaining (on their level) and reminding children of acceptable behavior.
  • Logging behavior in a center-based log, including the intervention used and whether it was successful.
  • Redirecting or separating the child from the event, individual, or activity that caused the behavior.
  • Quarterly meetings with parents/guardians to discuss behaviors and develop a plan of action for continued positive behavior development.
  • Modeling acceptable behavior through staff members.
  • Using videos, stories, and songs to reinforce positive choices.

If a child has harmed themselves or others, parents will be notified immediately, and the child will be placed in a calm area until they are able to talk through the incident with an adult.

The state of Kansas does not allow punishment that will humiliate, frighten, withhold, or force food. These and all other forms of corporal punishment are strictly prohibited at Treasures Academy.

Fees & Payment

Fees are the sole responsibility of the parent(s) and are due the Friday before the next week of care. A week's payment is due upon completion of the application.

Daycare service runs Monday through Friday. If a child starts after Monday, the fee will be prorated for the days attending within that week.

A late fee will be added if payment is not received within 3 days of billing. Parents will be given one week to catch up before care is refused. Children will not be permitted to return until all fees are paid.

A written termination notice must be received 7 days prior to your child(ren) being withdrawn. Fees will continue to accrue until proper notice is given, and a collection agency will be used to collect any funds owed.

The center reserves the right to terminate your contract for non-compliance with handbook policies. If service is terminated, the parent is still responsible for the remaining balance due that week.

$30 fee for returned checks plus any associated bank fees.

Late Pickup Fees

The late pick-up fee is $10 for every 10 minutes you are late, added to your bill at the end of the week. If late pick-up becomes habitual or too many late fees occur, you will be asked to remove your child from our care.
